Jon Quiceno
“Q” served alongside Nick Xiarhos with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2008, and later with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines in Garmsir, Afghanistan. Q served in Golf Company while Nick was with Weapons Company, and this photo was taken in the days following the start of Operation Khanjar. Seventeen years later, Q lives in Orlando, Florida, with his family and runs a successful HVAC business.
Dominic Davila
In the summer of 2009, Dominic Davila deployed to Garmsir, Afghanistan, with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines as a machine gunner in Weapons Platoon. On July 23rd, his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, resulting in the loss of his right leg below the knee. Nick Xiarhos and Jeremy Lasher were killed in the blast, while HM2 Trevor Parr was wounded. Today, Dom lives in Utah with his wife and daughter and serves as a full-time firefighter.
